Total Time = 1h 31m 40s
Overall Rank = 294/546
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 7/28
Pre-race routine:

little bit of toast with peanut butter, some coffee, a good bathroom break and just chilled out before event. I got there with enough time to set up in transition and look over the race details in the race packet.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 00m
  • 440 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

swim wasn't too bad except there was ALOT of seaweed. It was literally wrapped aroung my arms at time and it made it difficult to get a good arm rotation. sun in the eyes as you head back to the beach. ran into the men from the earlier wave so it threw me off about 50 yds from end of swim.
also, it was difficult to hear the start of the swim. they should have used an air horn instead of a little police siren sound to signal start of the wave.
What would you do differently?:

run faster to transition.
Transition 1
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

mounting line was past the timing chip mats...so at first i started to mount the bike until an official yelled at me. usually, you can mount the bike right after crossing mats, but not here.
What would you do differently?:

learn how to fount the bike with my shoes attached so i don't have to run with my bike shoes in the transition zone.
Bike
  • 45m 25s
  • 13.8 miles
  • 18.23 mile/hr
Comments:

didn't push it hard enough. don't know why i was being such a wuss. i was trying to stay at about 20mph, but i rode like i was out for a sunday drive.
What would you do differently?:

work harder
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

i need to learn how to get socks on my feet
What would you do differently?:

again, learn how to dismount the bike w/o shoes so i don't have to run with my clip shoes.
Run
  • 35m 4s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 10m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

i suck at running. amazingly, i felt good during the run, i just don't run fast. i don't run fast even during a "just run" race.
What would you do differently?:

go faster in swim and bike so i have a better lead during the run so less people pass me.
Post race
Warm down:

water, 1/2 a banana and a slice of apple.

Event comments:

lots of race officials...i've never been to a race where so many people were assessed penalties. good and bad for the participants.
