Swim
Comments: Swim Portion Cancelled due to Lake Michigan water temperature of 54 degrees. They scheduled a 1 mile run which I did in 7:50. What would you do differently?: If the water was a little warmer they might have had the swim and I would have been in serious trouble without a wetsuit. This should be my lesson. Transition 1
Comments: This was very good but very easy. All I had to do was grab my bike put on my helmet and sunglasses. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: I blew out my tire and had to walk back to the start of the race. My official time for this race should be DQ. What would you do differently?: Besides not hitting the broken reflector in the road that flattened my tire, I would also have the proper tools on my bike to fix the tire. This is a day of lessons!!! Transition 2
Run
Comments: I did have a good run, but it doesn't really count because there was not swim and by the time I got back to the transition area I had been walking my bike for about 40 minutes. Post race
Warm down: Stretched a fair amount What limited your ability to perform faster: My tire blew-out. I could still stand to lose some more pounds. Event comments: Good race. Lake Michigan had been at 75 degrees for months and then dropped like a rock for this race. Not the organizers fault. Hard to say about my tough luck, the reflector I hit was right in the path of the bike course so it would have been nice if someone rode the course looking for that type of thing but I don't know if that is standard. Drove to race. Arrived about an hour before race was suppose to start. I should get there at least that early in the future. I did not eat anything before the race which never seemed like much of a problem.
Stretch. Ran about half a mile.
