Swim
Comments: Zipped up wetsuit too far, accidentally released it, after 100M, it unzipped while swimming. Freaked out, slowed down, got off track. Ended up recovering rhythm and then ended up not sighting well, got off course. Oh well, there's always the next swim. What would you do differently?: Not unzip suit, do more open water swims. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit stuck... I've never practiced this, so I expected it. What would you do differently?: Get triathlon shoes, practice, use body glide on ankles Bike
Comments: Just decided to ride comfortably... could have ridden at least 1 MPH faster with no trouble on the run. Never was passed What would you do differently?: Push self harder Transition 2
Comments: I was on my way into the transition, somebody stopped a good 5 feet in front of me, didn't have my feet totally removed, fell off my bike What would you do differently?: Practice more transitions, get triathlon shoes Run
Comments: Overall good run, got a little nauseous at the end. Sprinted the last 100M, I was GONE. The guy behind me met up with me while I was drinking some Gatorade that he tried keeping up, but that he had no chance, and that I had an incredible finish. I jumped real high at the finish... hopefully it was a good picture! Never passed What would you do differently?: Take at least some Gu some sort of calories. I hardly ate anything the day of (1 bowl of oatmeal and .5 banana Post race
Warm down: Walking around What limited your ability to perform faster: Wetsuit incident, Not pushing self hard enough. Event comments: Loved the course! Nice and flat, but I didn't push myself hard enough, even on the run. Great end to the season, but surprised with my result even with my lackluster performance. I don't even know why I'm so upset... I'm in the top 3%. I guess I'm just that competitive. Upset that I didn't get the correct size of shirts... why the heck did they even want to know your size if they don't have any left over for you? I know I came late for sign in, but seriously. But I will be back next year FOR SURE doing the olympic distance. Great race. Hopefully my aerobic base will be better, and with over a year of training (instead of 3 months), hopefully I can do great things. I don't want to sound cocky, but next year will really decide if I want to race seriously. I did great this season with not that much training, and hopefully I can keep making gains like I have been. Basically the same, oatmeal w/ honey, banana. Woke up at 3:50 to get all ready to be out the door by 4:30
Nothing... not much time between closing off of transition area and wave start.
