Age Group Rank = 31/43
Pre-race routine:

Ate 1 bowl of granola as well as 1 piece of whole wheat toast with PB. Chased it with glass of OJ and sportdrink. Ate 2 GU packets right before leaving transition area for the swim
Event warmup:

NONE--(have to stretch more, still cramping in hamstrings)
Swim
  • 34m 25s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 06s / 100 yards
Comments:

PR for swim at this distance, came out of the water 12 minutes faster than the Boulder Peak (same distance), felt really good coming out of water. Suit srippers were a big help.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder, still need work with comfort level of bi-lateral breathing (but getting better)
Transition 1
  • 02m 51s
Comments:

Weren't allowed more than a fast walk out of T1
What would you do differently?:

A little faster getting shoes on (have a new pair coming that don't require socks, so that should help)
Bike
  • 1h 28m 38s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.82 mile/hr
Comments:

Could have pushed it a little bit harder, but still took 18 minutes off of the Boulder Peak time for same distance
What would you do differently?:

Better job of working gears and more strength training to better bomb my way over the rollers
Transition 2
  • 03m 16s
Comments:

T2 took about a minute too long, spent time trying to stretch out a little (didn't work, still cramped on run)
What would you do differently?:

warm up and stretch before race better, spend less time doing so during T2
Run
  • 1h 13m 47s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

This is where I continue to have problems. I have plenty of gas in the tank and my heart rate/breathing is good, but I continue to have problems cramping in my hamstrings, which is slowing me down. I also wore socks that created hot spots and blisters in the balls of my feet (first time that has happened, won't wear those socks again)
What would you do differently?:

Different socks, more strength training and stretching exercises for my hamstrings to try to keep them from being an issue later in the race
Post race
Warm down:

light stretching, walked around area for 5-10 minutes before sitting to eat.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

cramps in my hamstrings, blisters on feet

Event comments:

Overall, this being the second race at the Olympic distance, I felt pretty good, knocked 31 minutes off of the last race at this distance, and knew that with a little work on my hamstrings, could probably knock off another 5-10 minutes off of my time. Will definitely do this race again next year
