Swim
Comments: Really enjoyed the swim, very clear and clean water. This was my first time swimming over .5 miles, and everything just felt much better then expected. I probably could have turned it up a notch, but I wanted to stay fresh for the ride. What would you do differently?: Turned it up a notch or two, I definitely had more then enough energy to spare. Transition 1
Comments: I like to wear socks during my rides, so I am sure that slowed my time a bit. Bike
Comments: The race directors did a good job warning everyone about the bike portion of this tri. There was a lot of talk regarding a hill that had a 9% grade (for 3 miles) just before the half way mark. While the hill was indeed challenging, I was really impressed with how well everyone was able to handle the climb. I didn’t recall seeing anyone walking their bike or resting. Probably one of the best parts of this tri was the words of encouragement from all of the other racers while making the climb. On the other hand, it was also a lot of fun to watch some of the faster triathletes making their descents at about 50MPH. What would you do differently?: Work a little more on hills Transition 2
Run
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience - In time, I will better understand my limits. Also, I probably should have completed a dry run of the course before the event. Event comments: Great race! Last updated: 2009-06-30 12:00 AM
