Transition 1
What would you do differently?: I gotta think about skipping the socks??? and possibly the wetsuit? Bike
Comments: I did a good job pacing myself this year. The hill work over the last few weeks really helped. I got in an easy gear early on the hills and just spun up. Focussed on maintaining good breathing and was still passing people. I did not get fatigued early and so I maintained good pace throughout. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This was a good effort. Transition 2
Comments: Just about wiped it getting off the bike. I came flying in and breaked hard at the last minute as per usual and the guy ahead of me just stopped completely to dismount. I almost wrecked him and actually yelled a bit. Got around him and started running to the rack. What would you do differently?: Don't get directly behind anyone. Get to the side if the dismount area is crowded. Find a good path. Run
Comments: I saw someone from my wave leave T2 and I wanted to hang w/ him but couldn't. Kind of disappointing. Post race
Warm down: Very little stretching. Event comments: Seemed like they could have used a few more people in the water given all the problems we've been having in WI this year. Last updated: 2009-07-03 12:00 AM

Wake up . Shower. Breakfast three waffles w/ peanut butter and syrup and milk. Coffee. Sweatshirt, sweatpants and knit cap to stay warm.
Left house at 5:15. Arrived at 5:45 and got a great spot in transition. Ate half a bananas about an hour before start just to take the edge off the hunger.
Nice jogs with some pick-ups to 5k speed out to the road and back beginning about an hour before the close of transition. Same distance on the bike and then stopped at the bathroom. Got my wetsuit on just before close of transiton and did a few strokes to get wet and get settled. I wore sandals this year and it was very helpful. It kept my feet warm and safe until I crossed the start mat. Left the sandals by the start and picked them up later.
