Comments:

I ran my first km in 3:45 (looked at my watch and thought.. that's ridiculous!) and the first four miles too fast. I thought I maybe didn't have a concept of half marathon pace and now I know!
Felt like I was running well though until the last four miles. Forgot to take my 2nd gel and really faded.
I didn't feel I had the strength for the hills. I walked a portion of most of the hills b/c my butt was burning like crazy! ouch! But, if I was passed on a hill I always caught up and remained ahead of those people on the flats and into the next hills.
Really had a battle raging in my head those last four miles, but the get your butt in gear side won thankfully.
Ran across the finish line with my boys sprinting .. they should do that all the time!

What would you do differently?:

Not go out so fast, prepare better for the hills and remember to take a gel!

Warm down:

shower (thank god for late check outs!) and a large latte (thanks adam!)
lunch on a patio in Canmore complete with beer.
Walking around Canmore on a beautiful sunny day. It's one of my favorite places.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I really thought I could go 1:55 here. But I think I just didn't have the strength for the hills and I needed that 2nd gel.
Probably I'm at a good place to run a faster 10 k than a half marathon right now.


Event comments:

I really like this race.
My only complaint is I've never stuck around for food b/c the line is so long! It would be nice to be able to grab an orange close to the finish line.
