Overall Rank = 270/419
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 13/34
Pre-race routine:

pre-race bkfast (waffles, pb, syrup & coffee) 2 hrs before, set-up transition about an hour+ before (this routine is getting much easier/quicker now that I have a couple under my belt).
Event warmup:

minimal - a few minute jog and some stretching. No way was I getting into that 53 degree water before I needed to!
Swim
  • 08m 10s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Sure was cold on the first leg of the rectangle, but then got used to it. I was happy to be passing some people, and had fairly open water throughout. Felt that I stayed on course well, rounding right next to the buoys. Just felt that the swim was so quick that I couldn't settle into a rhythm and was rushing my stroke.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do more training at race pace to combine form, efficiency, and speed!
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Apparently this is my most competitive part of the race... surprised to see that my T1 time is right up there with a lot of the top finishers. I had a nice rack spot too...
Used the wetsuit strippers, but still having difficulty with getting the velcro undone on the wetsuit which slows me a little bit.
Did put on socks for the Oly distance.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on getting the velcro undone on the back of the wetsuit.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 50s
  • 21 miles
  • 18.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Not an easy course, especially with my lack of training lately, but I gave it my all after having regretted holding back on the Mooseman bike course.
What would you do differently?:

Need to get on track with training, work on hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Barely passed my spot with my bike, but no big deal.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 45m 29s
  • 5 miles
  • 09m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

Well, my legs were definitely slower off the bike with this race, but that's to be expected after going all out on the bike. I think each mile was a negative split which felt good.
What would you do differently?:

train more.
Post race
Warm down:

food, stretching, "ice bath" for the legs in the pond

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training. ? need better fit (and aero bars!) on bike.

Event comments:

Great venue. Just wish the bike didn't have to be 2nd half uphill
