Swim
Comments: Swim felt pretty good. I was worried about my left shoulder, it was showing some irritation in the previous swims. Second lap in the back leg, I felt bloated. What would you do differently?: CRUCIAL I do not eat anything within two hours before. Transition 1
Comments: Just slow. I was whipped after that swim.. the Mental of two laps did not sit well with me. Wetsuit issues. I am use to taking my suit off in the water. Timing chip strap was worthless and caught the suit. What would you do differently?: Taking suit off in the water next time. Bike
Comments: The start of the bike leg was a little rough. I was dealing with my last pbj in my stomach. I did not over hydrate on the bike leg with accelerade. I also only used one gel packet. I felt strong through the hills, passing people on hills builds my confidence. I was not passed and did a lot of passing. The three large hills were brutal, but fun. My 40K TT is at 1:02:50. I think had this been a flat course I would've nail under that. Overall Elevation gain was ~1194ft. What would you do differently?: I need to build my mental up for when I am starting to slow. within the last 10 miles, I only had one person to pass, I think I was wanting someone to pass in the last 5 miles. Continue to build with hills. Transition 2
Comments: I didn't have my feet out of my shoes. totally forgot about it. I actually STOPPED my bike instead of jumping off and running. I went to grab my run belt and missed. several thing that could be corrected with more practice. What would you do differently?: better transition training then going over it mentally. Run
Comments: after the bike leg, I didn't know if I was going to make it per say. I had a slight cramp. I pushed through it and kept my pace up and pushing myself. I wanted to feel the burn. I was passed twice, however I retook one of the passers. I also passed several people. I tried something new, taking a small small water bottle with some accelerade, this worked out great. I also only used a half of gel packet of accelerade. What would you do differently?: MORE HIIT in off season. Post race
Warm down: Stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: slightly ate too much. Event comments: Great event for it's first year. I was overall pleased with the performance of a first time group putting this event together. On the bike leg, the corners were all swept.
