Swim
Comments: 20/57 in swim, the serpentine swim was really nice, the lanes were wide, it was very organized too. What would you do differently?: Spend more time training in the pool. I know I can swim better. Transition 1
Comments: This was really bad, i even ommitted putting on my socks because i knew i was eating up time. What would you do differently?: Get a race suit i can wear in the pool instead of trying to pull shorts over a wet suit and body. Bike
Comments: I HATE THE BIKE!!!! this is seriously my nemesis. I didn't spent enough time training on the bike and tried to take it easy so i wouldn't be spent before the run...i was also slightly put out by the amount of hills in this race, i know we are in kansas, but i felt like i did ALOT of climbing, i guess that is just lack of training. What would you do differently?: more time on the bike, this is what got me...hands down. Transition 2
Comments: this was okay, can't really complain because it went pretty smooth. What would you do differently?: nothing? Run
Comments: I was spent when i got to the run, i did a combo of run/walk AGAIN! i really felt strong in my run leading up to this race, but i just didn't put in enough time on the bike to prepare for the torture of bike to run. I stopped about 1 mile in to stretch my shins, i also threw up in my mouth and just swallowed it back down- so gross. What would you do differently?: not walk, focus more on bike/run brick. Post race
Warm down: crying, talking to my family and friends, being mentally defeated. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training. I know i can be competitive in these local races, i just need to put in more training time....but with more training time comes sacrifices, so i need to decide if the sacrifices (adam, friens, family) are worth being competitive or if i am okay just 'finishing'. I have alot to think about and am pretty upset at my meteocre performance. Event comments: I was sick monday-thursday the week of the race, so this limited my ability to train, but even before that i was having trouble getting in my training. I struggle with wanting to be competitive (just my nature) and not being able to put in the time to be competitive. I have to decide if i can change my frame of mind to be okay with just competing...i really hope that i can get another sprint in before the season ends...I REALLY don't want to end on this race.
