Pre-race routine:

Got up early and had a bowl of oatmeal and some coffee. Made a pb+j sammich to go, but never ate it. Had some Shot Blox about 15 minutes before the swim with some water.
Event warmup:

None... I was in the last wave, didn't seem that doing a swim warmup an hour before made any sense. Did some stretching, used the bathroom lots.
Swim
  • 08m 44s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m / 100 yards
Comments:

Water was nice, got to the inside right next to the buoy and got behind some men for the start. Kept to the inside and had very little contact, but had to look ahead for prior waves where people had just stopped dead in the water?
What would you do differently?:

Nothing... good swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 2s
Comments:

Very long run up a back and forth ramp to the transition area. My bike was closer to the run exit, so another long run to the mount line.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, maybe work on transition practice.
Bike
  • 37m 14s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.03 mile/hr
Comments:

I was blazing hot on the bike today, Sally did me proud!! I was passing people like they were standing still, including lots of hot young guys on serious bike porn! Loved it! 2 men passed me and I passed them back, one more guy passed me and stayed ahead of me, other than that I passed EVERYONE!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I LOVED this bike ride!
Transition 2
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Probably could have been a little quicker, but it was okay.
What would you do differently?:

Keep practicing transitions.
Run
  • 42m 26s
  • 3.45 miles
  • 12m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my best tri run by far, but I still had to stop and walk a lot. I was breathing hard and who knows how high my HR was.
What would you do differently?:

HTFU and just keep running no matter how slow!
Post race
Warm down:

Got some water and went and laid down in the grass in the shade to cool down. Ran into a friend that I've done an OWS with as well as Brittany (TexasMPGal) and chatted with them. Got the bike loaded on the car and waited a long time for awards. Finally had some pizza they were giving away.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still need a LOT of work on the run leg... BUT it just goes to show you that you can ace the swim and the bike, suck at the run and still win AG!!

Event comments:

I signed up for this at the last minute, hoping to get a 3rd place and ended up with a 1st place AG!! I am now even more motivated to keep working on my run!!
