Pre-race routine:

Drove down on the Bus with Team Toledo. The race started at 5:00PM. My Back was a problem all day I had a hell of a time in getting the back loose and it hurt like hell. I could not put on my shoes befoer the run with out laying on the ground and putting me feet up in the air. We got to the race site early and checked into our room and relaxed for the next few hours. Set up transition about an hour before the race and went back to the hotell to stretch and get ready for the race.
Event warmup:

Did a little running and biking and stretched. Back was a problem all day. Had alot of time since the race was at 5:00pm. Walked to the bus and got out to the barge for the race start.

Swim was a mess. There were sticks and stuff all over the river. It was terible. The swim was horrible for me. I think I did not swim out far enough to get in the current but all the stuff in the river made the swim bad.
What would you do differently?:

Not swim in the Ohio River.

Good over all. Not alot of bikes left i was so late out of the water. Long run to bike and legs were not ready for the run after the swim. My back was bad I had to sit down to put my shoes on. The back felt bad.
What would you do differently?:

Not do a race when you can barley put on your shoes.

Overall great course. The "Big Hiney" was about 9 miles into the race and it was hard. I went up the hill at about 5 to 6 mph. I started sitting on the seat but ended up standing up and getting in a rythm and moved up the hill well. Only bad part is when I got over the top my chain poped off and had to stop and fix it and lost about 1 min. The rest of the bike was rolling hills and one long down hill and it was fun becasue I was going about 30mph most of the time. Great bike for me.
What would you do differently?:

Not much different. Goood ride for me 8th in AG is good for me.

Not have a bad back for a race.

Not a great run for me. I Just did not go hard enough on the first lap. It was hot but I needed to get moving. The second lap was better but the first lap was just to slow.
What would you do differently?:

Go out of t2 alittle harder and pick up the pace for the first few miles and then settle in to a pace.

Warm down:

Eat food and wait for other people to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My back was real bad. The next day I was haveing a hard time just getting up out of a chair and walking.

OK race but needs to find a better place to swim.
