Swim
Comments: This was an ok swim for me. I can't really have any expectations considering I only make it to the pool about once a week. I still managed to shave over 20 seconds off my time from last year, so I'm happy. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: I have no idea what I did for an extra minute and a half last year! Goggles and swim cap were off, and wetsuit was half off by the time I got to my rack. Wetsuit off, shoes on (no socks), helmet & sunglasses on, and off to the mount line. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: A bit slower than last year, but still good for the same rank in my AG. I passed many people and was only passed by a few. I was a bit conservative on the corners. Some of them (marked by cones) were a little hard to see, but they had volunteers posted there to warn racers, so that was nice. What would you do differently?: Maybe go a tiny bit harder. It's hard to say if that would have been bad for the run. Transition 2
Comments: Somehow I managed to cut 30 seconds off. I think it was because I skipped the socks. I still remember feeling like I took a bit too long to put my shoes on. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Over a minute faster than last year. I really pushed it and felt it for several minutes after I finished. Somehow, even with my super low running volume this year, I've managed to pick up a little speed. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: Met up with my mom and my sister's boyfriend, waited for my sister to finish, which she did in 1:36:XX, about 6 minutes faster than last year. Then we went out for a well-deserved breakfast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Plenty of factors, but it doesn't really matter. Event comments: For a few reasons, this season has not been quite what I wanted it to be. Even so, I'm continuing to make progress even though my situation hasn't been ideal. I managed to shave 3 minutes off last year's time on less training. Hopefully the same thing happens at Silverman next month!! Last updated: 2009-07-10 12:00 AM

We got up at 4:30, had some coffee, and got on the road. My sister only lives about 10 minutes away from Mission Bay, so we were parked before 5:30. Set up transition, took advantage of early bathroom opportunities, and went down to the starting area to put on wetsuits and wait. We wanted to avoid a repeat of last year (running from transition in our wetsuits to join our wave before it started).
I consider walking around and putting on my wetsuit a sufficient warmup!
