Pre-race routine:

Got to transition later then expected/hoped. Had to find room on the rack because it was full. People have no idea how to race there bike and set up there transition area in a legal matter. I asked a volunteer about it and she said that they weren't enforcing these rules because its a big race for newcomers. So lets teach the noobies the wrong way by not correcting them.
Event warmup:

Nothing. I was in the bathroom when they canceled the swim, so i didn't have my shoes and still had my goggles and swim cap.
Run
  • 03m 52s
  • 0.5 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't have my shoes, which made this part really hard since we ran on the beach.
What would you do differently?:

Wear shoes. OR FUCKING SWIM BECAUSE ITS A TRIATHLON.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Had a good T1. Got to the bike, put the helmet on and ran off with the bike. Did a good job of getting into the shoes and strapped in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 30m 45s
  • 11 miles
  • 21.46 mile/hr
Comments:

The course was really crowded since the swim was canceled and the run wasn't long enough to create seperation. Overall had a good ride. Winds were sustained at about 15-20mph on a steady basis. Never really felt that oh shit going into a headwind, but was getting blown around from the side.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

This was pretty good. Forgot to put bodyglide on the shoes, so they were a little harder to get on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 24m 38s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I think this was longer then 5k. Different course then last year. Did the 1st mile in 7:40. Good pace. Then hit mile 2 at 16:00. What the hell, how did i put in an 8:20 when i felt pretty good. Then hit mile 3 at 24:00. 8:00 mile now and i was pushing it. So guess is that it was long. Never saw anyone in my AG on the run. Only got passed by maybe 4 people, passed a bunch myself.
What would you do differently?:

Run harder
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not having a swim

Event comments:

Canceling the swim was a horrible idea. I think RD are starting to get too uptight about the swim. While I understand there are people who can't handle some roughness in the water, I can, so why am I punished.
