Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30 and headed over to the starting point at 5. Once I got there I got my gear together and then walked around until I found Brian (coldfire) and Stephanie.
Event warmup:

None...I figured 100 miles would be enough of a warm-up. Also After watching the people at the starting point I knew we would be moving slow and cautiously for the first 10 miles or so.

Comments:

Well I'll start by saying this was my first Century ride. The longest ride up until this was 61 miles...so I had a few additional in the one. The beginning on the race was worth every bit of pain the remainder of the day would bring...we were all stationed on the bridge over looking 400. While we sat there everyone watched the police completely shut down GA 400 southbound. That was incredible and then to watch 1000 bikers move down the ramp and then proceed to bike down from exit 7 to exit 6 was awesome! Coldfire and I entered 400 and rode over to the "fast" lane just for the fun of it. Once we exited 400 it was a combo of neighborhoods and hills for the rest of the day. I spent most of my time focused on petal stroke and steady cadence so I'm probably off on the mile but the last 20 miles of the 100 loop were extremely hilly and tough (having already come 80 at that point) The 2 major standouts to me were a HUGE hill at mile 88? It seemed to go on forever and was very steep. I watched a ton of people walking their bikes up the hill...I refused to get off my bike so I geared down and pushed all the way up. At the top I thought I was going to die but I had made it. The other is at the very end of the course, again it was long and steep and it didn't help that it ended with about 200 yards tot eh finish...seriously! Even with all of the hills etc the race was great! The scenery was fantastic and the people were great as well.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Keep working on my hills and powering up them.
Post race
Warm down:

Honestly I was spent so I didn't do much/any of a cool down. i know better than to do that but oh well I was dead.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills...they suck

Event comments:

Great race and a challenging one as well. If it had been my first 31/60 miler then it would have been a tough course. Overall I would recommend it.
