Pre-race routine:

Got up around 4:00, made coffee and got dressed for the race. Got to the site right at 5:30 and picked a pretty decent rack spot to set up - I remembered to bring my camp stool this time. Saw a fabulous sunrise!

Went wide around the first bouy - I thought the current was pretty strong back in 2006, but today I think the tide must have been coming in. I didn't feel too bad, just slow.
What would you do differently?:

Need more open water practice - better sighting.

Beautiful morning for a ride! Noticed early in the ride that it was alreay 81 degrees - the heat got to me in the run. I felt really good throughout the ride, and was surprised to see that I didn't do as well as I did in 2006.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!

Again, not too fast in the T2. I tried to be quick this time, but a lot of people are much faster - I only beat four people in my age group.

I spun "easy" the last couple miles on the bike and my turnover at the start of the run was really good, however I went out too fast and really struggled the last couple of miles.
What would you do differently?:

Run slower (smaller strides) with the fast turnover early in the run. Practice negative split workouts.

Warm down:

Not much - I was pretty hot, but not too bad, but couldn't stop sweating. I think it was pretty humid.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Plain old lack of practice.
