Swim
Comments: Felt good on the swim, drafted well off the lead two people on the course out. Lost them at the buoy turn-around though, need to work on this. What would you do differently?: Check with the course officials if it is around the buoy, or just touching the buoy. The lead two people just touched it, I went around. Transition 1
Comments: Got to transition point with suit at waist, went to take it off, and got dizzy. Not sure what from though? Sat down to take off rest of suit, lost some time there. Socks and shoes went on well. What would you do differently?: Bring my own stick of body-glide, and lube up those calves!! Bike
Comments: Went too hard on the bike. I never stopped pedaling, never coasted. I paid for it on the run badly. What would you do differently?: Go hard up the hills, while seated. Coast down the other side, allowing my heart rate to drop. Also, go easy on the last half mile... you'll need it for the run! Fill my aero-drink about 3/4 full, that's IT for liquid. No other bottle is needed!! Transition 2
Comments: Did great getting out of my shoes coasting into the finish of the bike. Coasted in, jumped off side-saddle, ran with my bike to my transition point. Shoes were on quick, remembered my race number band and visor as well. Bring the visor again, that was good to have! What would you do differently?: Not much... shoes were off and on quick. Run
Comments: Quads on both legs locked up within the first half mile. Stayed that way until about the turn-around. Painfully slow running... but I didn't walk. What would you do differently?: DRINK LESS, WAY LESS on the bike. Post race
Warm down: Bathroom break, then a plunge back in the cold river. FANTASTIC way to finish a race... in the cold water. Do this every time! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training, plain and simple. I need to work on pacing the bike, and training more for running. Event comments: Very few people, zero sponsors, not even a single stand selling anything (like body-glide, which I needed!) Last updated: 2009-07-13 12:00 AM

2 hours prior to race start, I ate an english muffin with peanut butter. No issues with nutrition, so good there.
None really... got there late, just got to do a short swim. Next time leave earlier.
