Swim
Comments: My primary goal was to not hyperventilate or have breathing problems on the swim, which have been an issue on my other 2 tris. That was accomplished! The negative side effect to this strategy was a very slow time. The time includes about 1 minute required to get to transition, which was up a large hill from the beach. The upside is a completely empty transition area. What would you do differently?: Maybe look into swim lessons during the winter, OWS training would be extremely helpful, but is not practical. learn how to breathe bi-laterally. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: The challenge to this course was the volume of cars on the course, most of which did not seem to know what to do around all the bikers. Some hugged the right, some hugged the left, often in a line, leaving no way to pass. Passed cars on the left - not ideal or probably even legal, but it was that or come to a complete stop behind the line of waiting cars! Transition 2
Run
Comments: not used to running off road, having to dodge roots and trees and worrying about foot placement, so that was fun... Felt pretty good on the run, thought it would be faster, but it's possible the first mile was much slower and brought down my average. Post race
Warm down: lots of water Event comments: Better than my first tri, not as good as my second, still plenty room for improvement, especially on the swim. Last updated: 2009-07-13 12:00 AM
