Swim
Comments: This was the first swim this summer that I felt like I had a good rhythm the entire swim. Also, what was especially nice was they had enough waves so there weren't 50 or more people all starting at the same time. My group had about 30 guys which was perfect. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: Took my time in the transition. No problems Bike
Comments: Moderate hills made for a challenging ride. I'm glad it was only 10 miles and not 20. Transition 2
Comments: Bike racked, shoes changed and out in record time. For me this was a very quick transition Run
Comments: Very easy pace, although my back felt a little tight during the run. Post race
Warm down: Walked, stretched, drank water, ate oranges and a banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. I had a really good swim; however, I got passed by a lot of guys in my age group on the bike. Only one guy in my age group passed me on the run and he finished just ahead of me, so overall I felt I did pretty good. Bottom line: I had a lot of fun Event comments: Everyone was positive and encouraging, even the LA Sheriff's deputies working the streets and Wayside. The volunteers did an awesome job. Loved the venue and look forward to next year. Last updated: 2009-07-13 12:00 AM

Up early for the drive to Castaic. Beautiful morning, sunny and warm. Light breakfast and a cup of coffee for the one-hour ride. Plenty of parking, $11 fee to enter park, check in was very smooth. Transition area was wide open with lots of space between each rack
I was in the last wave so I had plenty of time to stretch and swim prior to my heat
