Swim
Comments: Need more practice sighting. Lost some time having to do the breaststroke just to pick out the next bouy. Went too fast in the first 200 meters to try and keep up/catch people. What would you do differently?: Sight better. Need constant stroke and breathing. Transition 1
Comments: Relatively good job getting the wetsuit off for the first time. I had my cap, earplugs, and googles off and in hand before I left the water. I had the westuit at my waist shortly after I left the water. Waisted some time in cleaning and drying my feet before I put on my socks. Lost some more time putting on the long sleeve shirt for the bike segment (which, as it turns out, was not really needed). What would you do differently?: Bring a water bowl to rinse my feet after the sandy run to the transition area. Bike
Comments: Bike leg started off bad with the chain coming off the gears before I even mounted the bike. I noticed after I mounted and it cost me some time to put the chain back on. Taking the long sleeved shirt off at the turnaround cost me some more time. Overall time lost due to the chain and shirt was approximately 1:30. Bike leg was really slow, I was hoping for over 20 mph. Felt sluggish the entire leg. GU packet halfway throught the bike leg helped. What would you do differently?: No long sleeved shirt, verify chain after racking the bike. Bigger gears and higher cadence. More fluid intake. Transition 2
Comments: Came into the transition area with my feet on top of my bike shoes, but then lifted my right foot and the shoe rotated down and started to scrape the concrete. I misjudged the dismount line and wound up going REALLY slow to the line and did not dismount the bike running. Took me a little longer to rack the bike. Bike gear came off really quickly and running gear went on quickly. Even had time to get a drink of water before leaving the transition area. What would you do differently?: Better dismount off the bike, need to rack the bike quicker. Run
Comments: Good run effort considering the shin plint issues earlier in the season. Ran to each aide station and then walked approximately 30-45 seconds while drinking. Good overall effort but had more in the tank that I should have used. What would you do differently?: More consistent training and run the entire distance with more effort. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for 5 minutes and slowly stretched my legs. What limited your ability to perform faster: Proper amount of training and some dumb mistakes. Event comments: As always, great race and great organization. The events started a little late, but ran smoothly after that. Good food afterwards. Did not stick around for the awards (I knew I did not get anything) and headed to the cottage to relax. Last updated: 2009-07-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:20 am, transition bags already packed the night before. Grabbed water, Cliff Bar, and banana for the drive to the race. Ate on the drive to the race site. Arrived around 6:00 am to set up. Set up went slow, since this is the first triathlon in 2 year. Ran into old friends and met some new ones.
Stretched with warmup pants and sweatshirt on. Rode the bike for approximately a 1/4 miles to get the gears in the right place and loosen up the muscles. Due to the temperature (55 degrees F) did not do a proper warmup to include running and swimming.
