Swim
Comments: Good swim, with apparent current. The water stunk this year so that wasn't pleasant. I've tried year after year to get to the middle, but have failed every time. The current just keeps me close to the shore. Otherwise felt good during this swim. Nothing much to write about. I was relaxed mentally. What would you do differently?: I read somewhere where someone picked a spot a few bouys out and aimed for that. I will try that next time to try to avoid the shore. Transition 1
Comments: Not a bad time for this size of Transition. My T's are much improved this year. I ran the cement steps without any HR issues. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Felt strong on the bike, did lots of passing, but was passed a lot as well. I need to improve strength. I have the speed in the flats, but uphill I need more work. I may have held off a bit too much as well. I need a new fit. Not feeling my hamstrings engage as they should. Pretty much only quads. I saw the place where I flatted last year. It was at the 4 mile mark of the bike. The hole that caused it is still there, and still unmarked. I avoided it like the plague. I wonder how many people hit that hole and flatted this year. I did see water bottles everywhere in the area. Thankfully, no flat in this race this year. What would you do differently?: Go a touch harder. Transition 2
Comments: Another decent T, but my time is a little slower due to putting on socks. I hate that I have to put on socks, but my current shoes make it necessary. What would you do differently?: No socks? Run
Comments: I had a solid run. Felt good the whole time. I passed SO many people, and I enjoy that immensely. That's what racing is all about right? I'd like to get my time down some more, but this is where I am at right now. Next year will be short speed year. What would you do differently?: Speed work, of any kind. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed my Hammer water bottle and poured it over my head. It had not started raining yet. Walked to the ATC tent and waited for others to come in. Cheered them on. What limited your ability to perform faster: eh.. same ole same ole. Weight. No speed work to speak of. Overall I had the race I wanted, so there is nothing that bothers me about my time. Event comments: I have to give it a 5. It's just a fantastic venue and well organized by the race director. Big race atmosphere. Last updated: 2009-07-15 12:00 AM

Drove up to Chatt from Atlanta with several other cars full of people. Left from Starbucks at 4:25am (for future reference). Got to the race with plenty of time. Checked in, and set up transition. Met up with quite a few other ATC'ers and hit the Bus to the athletic fields. Of note, nutrition wise, I drank a Kroger brand ensure at about 5:30am, and had a Mocha at 4:30am
None.. some mini sprints to get in activity mode, but nothing more than that.
