Swim
Comments: This was a really strange swim for me. For the first half of it, I just flat out wasn't into it, which I can't believe. My body felt a little weird and I'm not sure if I ate too the day before, but I was nauseous coming out of the water. I did snap out of it about half way through and did finish strong. Sighted well throughout the race which was really important with all the zig zags. What would you do differently?: Focus and be prepared. I am really shocked about my mental state during this swim. I think it was a one time thing, but we'll see. I also want to make sure I stay focused on my form a little more. Transition 1
Comments: Great T1. It looks like I tied for 7th overall timewise, which is definitely good considering I pondered throwing up during it. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: Had a good, hard ride. I think my effort level was excellent. I started the ride with a HR of about 180 so I needed to get it down. I'd say my average HR was about 170-173, which is cool. Pushed it pretty hard on the hills and came up off my seat a few times, but not too much. What would you do differently?: Not too much right now. I plan to continue to get faster, hopefully, a new tri bike will help. Transition 2
Comments: Here's where my race went a little South. I got off the bike great and had no problem getting the Zoots, race belt, etc. on BUT I forgot to switch my Garmin back onto my hand strap from the bike. I noticed it about 10 seconds after I left my bike, buckled a little thinking about whether to do get it or not, but decided not to get it. Looking back, that was a mistake... What would you do differently?: NOT FORGET TO TAKE MY GARMIN OFF MY BIKE! Run
Comments: Very interesting run for me without my watch. I was so discombobulated it wasn't even funny! I can't remember the last time I ran without my watch. It was really weird. In reality, I'm pretty happy with my run time. I want to get that down at least to sub seven minute miles, but it wasn't very difficult keeping that pace at all. What would you do differently?: Not forget my watch in T2! That will definitely help. I also want to push the pace and get to at least sub 7 minute miles at this distance. Post race
Warm down: Didn't actually do much of a cool down. I was hoping to get a free massage, but the lines were a little too long. Need to do a little more stretching next time. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not be into the swim mentally and forgetting my Garmin on the run. Event comments: This was an interesting race for me. I battled through some diversity pretty well and I am pretty pleased with my results, however, I was expecting to do a little better. The organization of the race, volunteers, food/drink, etc, was all top notch. I'm planning to do this race again next year. Last updated: 2009-07-16 12:00 AM

Slept at my buddy Matt's apartment in New Bedford so was only about 15 minutes from the race, which was really nice. Woke up and had some water and a Cliff bar then headed to the race.
Did a short run with Adam, prob went about a half mile doing some strides. Actually was a little rushed, but then we put our wetsuits on and headed down to the water for a very quick, maybe 100 yard swim.
