Swim
Comments: I was alone most of the time and got off course a few times. I felt I was swimming ok, but after I saw my time I got a bit disappointed as I know I can swim a bit faster. I also kept getting water in my goggles, because I missed to place them properly at the beginning of the race What would you do differently?: I have to trust my training and go out faster at a steady pace; I know I can average at least 1:25 per 100yds for a mile. Sometimes doing open water swim I feel I am going to blow my swim and I end up holding back. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: I felt I was pushing hard at some points but I am sure it was that my legs were tired from Timberman last week. Plus my goal for this race was to push hard on the bike and see how much left I would have on the tank for the bike. I think I did a great job on the bike, and indeed I pushed a bit harder than usual, hence it end up affecting my run speed a bit. Unlike other times I was the one doing the passing on the bike and only 3 to 5 guys passed me I also started getting pretty uncomfortable with my saddle, so I am sure it is time to review my bike fitting Drank 26 oz of cytomax, 1 GU and 3 endurolytes. What would you do differently?: TRAIN MORE AND MORE AND MORE Transition 2
What would you do differently?: myabe do it a bit faster? Run
Comments: I tried to get into a rhythm the first 2 miles. I took a GU just starting the run with water to keep my carbs intake in check and took 3 endurolytes. Around mile 2.5 I increase my pace but I felt like my legs wanted to cramp. I was uncomfortable on my right calf and both hamstrings. I focus on my technique and pace with short steps. I kept drinking Gatorade and pouring water on my head/legs to keep myself cool and keep my legs from cramping. Between mile 2 and 4, I like 6-10 racers racers. At mile 4 ½ another racer caught up with me and passed and this pissed me off (I am not sure why) but I figured I need it to stay with him. Somehow I was able to forget about the potential cramping on my legs and took off with him. I stayed with him until mile 5 when I just took all my energy remaining and increased the pace even more. At that point I passed him and saw another two racers just like 400 meters away from the finish line. I just went ALL out and passed one (the winner for the ladies) and end up next to the other one. What would you do differently?: nothing much. I was defintely a bit tired from Timberman, but still managed to put together a great race Post race
Warm down: streching, gatorade and FOOD! Event comments: Awesome experience. This Olympic distance was the New England Regional Intermediate Distance Championship. So I am pretty excited with my results. I know that I need to do A LOT of work to compete for the top places but I will focus on that and keep having fun as I had been having for a years now. I love this sport! Last updated: 2005-08-29 12:00 AM
