Swim
Comments: I did well rounding the buoys this year but Im usually a magnet for the swimmers who cant sight so they zig zag whatever way Im trying to get away from them :) I did run in the shallow end, yes. What would you do differently?: practice practice practice.... the water was so cold that it took your breath away so I did breast stroke some of it... Transition 1
Comments: I take my time in t1 bc Iget all the sand off my feet in a container of water so it doesnt bug me on the bike or run so yes Im very slow here...the run from the swim-out to the racks is long... What would you do differently?: swoosh my foot clean a bit faster :) Bike
What would you do differently?: try clipless and finally get a road bike ;) I spent a lot of energy on the swim that was supposed to be used on bike and the biking felt tought the first mile til my legs got their feeling back! Transition 2
Comments: I rode in my running shoes so there wasnt much to do but re=rack the bike and put a hat on and run out...... What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: My legs were so tired from overuse on the swim i literally had to stop and stretch on a curb during the run before going further...I just had a really hard time with 3 measly miles What would you do differently?: calf stretch more and practice bricks Post race
Warm down: Had a banana and stretched out til transition area re-opened. Cheered on others at the finish line What limited your ability to perform faster: THE COLD WATER IN THE SWIM KILLED ME! It was my worst performance by far as compared to the amount of training I put in...the energy spent trying to stay warm was then used up when I needed them for the other events... Event comments: Well run race. Officials could have been more honest about water temp perhaps? The usual complaint of more portapotties needed... Great atmosphere, great course... would do it again! woke up at 4am and left house by 445 to get to transition and racking and 530. Choked down bagel with peanut butter 1 hour before wave time and sipped water for a few hours slowly...visited the bathrooms twice just so I didnt have to wait til last minute- the lines are crazy as usual. walked transition area a few times as theyd changed it from last year.
warmed up legs and arms while watching other waves start
