Run
Comments: It went very well. I didn't have a lot of training for that race so I really paced myself. I followed my plan exactly. Forty minutes before the start, I hate a half Vector bar, after the first 7k, I took a Gu while walking, after the second 7k, I took another Gu and walking break, then home run for the last 7k. Also, at every drinking station, I would take a glass of gatorade and walk while drinking it. It was the perfect plan for me. I was able to finish strong, I passed quite a few people in the stadium to the finish line. I'm paying for it today! ouch! What would you do differently?: Train more. Run more. Post race
Warm down: Find my way out of the crowd, got my shoes off, I couldn't stand them anymore! Then try to find a spot that I could sit. My legs and feet were hurting so much! I sat down and stretch while talking to my family, stretch while eating my lunch, stretch while digesting... just stretch as much as possible! ouch! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough running and cardio training. Before my next half marathon, I will run at least 30k per week with weekly interval trainning to be able to run faster. Event comments: It was my first half marathon, it was long and hard but I had fun and really enjoyed the whole race. I was looking forward to do a half marathon for a long time and I'm so glad I did it! I'm very proud of myself and looking forward to train better for my next half marathon! Same breakfast as usual! I was so stressed about my first half marathon... I just tried to stay calm.
Just walked from the metro station to the Jacques-Cartier bridge. The atmosphere was festive. We were five thousand taking off for the half marathon and there was 2 thousand for the marathon.
