Swim
Comments: This was a good swim. Great swim start - individual start someone went every 5 seconds. Wonderful no slosh and josh and no washing machine. Love it. But the scuttle butt is the course was long. My time reflects a long course. Last year I did the swim in under 10 minutes. Can't believe I would add a minute this year. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Last year I spent nearly 9 minutes here. Couldn't get my wet suit off. Did better this year but still need to shave that time in half. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Bike
Comments: Last year it took me more than an hour to do this course. I cut 10 mintues off that time. I'm happy with that. What would you do differently?: Pass more! Transition 2
Comments: Nothing to say here realy Run
Comments: Again, cut almost nine minutes off this time last year. Woo Hoo. Pulled a hell of a kick at the end. Sprinted to the finish line. What would you do differently?: Start my kick earlier and a little slower to boost my time. I didn't get going until the turnaround. It took a while for the legs to warm up but once they did I was actually running. I wasn't wheezing or doubling over like a lot of folks. Post race
Warm down: Ate with the BT folks and then announced the winners. Mark won his age group the stud! What limited your ability to perform faster: My butt as usual and lack of experience on the bike. I should have passed a lot more and I would have come in faster. Event comments: This was my best race of the season and I'm so stoked. I took more than 20 minutes off my time last year on both the bike and the run and T1. I'm so excited. It it so good to see improvment. I didn't hurt at all during this race and I know I'm nearly ready for my 1/2IM. So stoked. Woo Hoo. Last updated: 2005-08-29 12:00 AM

Well, got up to Aurora the day before to help Jim out with the race. Helped him out with wavier signing and registration at Runner's Roost in Arapahoe Crossing. It was so cool seeing all the "newbies,". They had so many questions, timing chips, how do I get there, is the water going to be cold. I was so stoked to see all these people doing their first or second races. It was really cool. Say himself, luvtoride and blackbud and Jen at the registration. I was going to stay in a hotel but Matt (blackbud) and Jen graciously offered their spare room to me. I usually don't do this - it's a thing I have about imposing - but Jen was so insistent. I said yes. Got to their house and met their dogs Bud and Chase. Chase is the cutest dog I've ever seen with the best demeanor. I decided that was it I'm getting a dog! He was great and lovely. Hung out with Matt and Jen and poor Matt busted THREE tubes with a faulty pump. It was his first race and I felt sooo bad for him. He was not a happy camper. Anxiety was running all over. But we eventually got it taken care of with an emergency trip to REI. You should have seen his face though when we went to Bicycle Village and it was closed. :)
Anyway had a pre-race meal organized by Ben and his wife. So nice of them and Ben wasn't even racing. Met Det and TriGreenie (misnomer if I ever saw one) Jen, Matt, myself, Ryan and Stacie.
Ryan paid someone to cook his dinner which apparently is a regular routine for him! :)
It was a grand time. It was the first time before a race that I didn't have butterflies. It was nice hanging out with everyone. Seeing all the newbies doing their first or second ones allowed me to play veteran. Ha.!
Got to race at about 5:30. Not before Mark though who thought T opened at 5 a.m. :)
Got my coveted aisle spot and marked it with my bright neon shirt. Woo hoo. OK I've tried swimming as a warm up and it has not worked in the past. So I took a cue from Cogirl and decided to run as a warm up. Which is really funny because when I run I run, I don't do no stinking run warm ups cause hey I barely have enough energy to haul my but up the hills for the race let alone start early and run for nuthin'! But I have to say that the run warm up was great. Got the heart rate going and everything.
