Swim
  • 09m 58s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt real good on the swim and was very strong coming out of the water. This was a simple course with a counter clockwise loop. The water was a bit chilly, but overall very good, especially for a neigborhood lake.
Transition 1
  • 02m 44s
Bike
  • 50m 56s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.67 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was OK. I hadn't been on the bike at all since the last triathlon for all sorts of reasons....injury, work, family, etc...bottom line is I just didn't make the time. That definitely hurt my overall performance and meant that I came off the bike without the energy necessary to have a good run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 19s
Run
  • 31m 21s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

Ugh. The run wasn't very good. Although I had done weekly small runs since the last tri, it wasn't really enough to do well.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training...I hadn't ridden the bike since the last triathlon and had limited running time. This is definitely my worst tri in three years (but just barely)..but I at least gave it a go even though I wasn't prepared for it. My swim was good, but the lack of conditioning reared its ugly head as the event went on. I'm looking forward to getting back to normal training now that the weather has cooled and I can devote some more time to it. Only time will tell if I can discipline myself when the daylight time is so short, but I will give it my best to be back strong for the Spring.

Event comments:

I heard someone comment that this race director was "the best" from another participant. I don't think he's bad, but the post-race layout and accommodations had a lot to be desired. Pizzas ran out (I only could find one piece, there were no drinks other than water, beer, and a few specialty sport drinks. It wasn't bad, but it had a lot left to be desired for a "Great" evaluation.
