Up at 4:30 as usual. Ate some yogurt, drank coffee.
Event warmup:

Announced that there was a drowning in the lake yesterday evening. There will be no swim. Converted race to a duathon with a 2 mile run before the bike.

Felt good to pass people. I'm such a poor runner, it makes it all OK when I get on the bike. Caught people everywhere, hills, corners, straights. Really felt strong.

Push harder. I had some left when the race was over.

Went OK for my training. Kept pushing and negatively split the run. Pushed me up one rank. Mental conditioning paid off.

Speed work. Need to increase speed.

Warm down:

Had bottle with whey and added Gatorade. Worked OK.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still not trusting my own speed.

Event comments:

Another great race from Run Wild Multisports. These people think of everything. They did well adapting to the situation. Love the way they encourage everyone, even the last finisher, who happened to be my sister-in-law.

Good bike. Pressed the hills. Hammered the downhills. Hit a little wind on the backside of the lake.
