Swim
Comments: The start of the swim was chaotic - the water was very shallow and I kept running into people still walking. Once the swimming really got underway - there was wind blowing into the swimmers making breathing a bit more challenging. What would you do differently?: Navigate better! Transition 1
Comments: Mounted bike with shoes already on. Bike
Comments: It was raining - course was fairly rough. Had to dismount once (where I threw my chain). I also had to use the restroom (took time because I was wearing bib shorts) Transition 2
Comments: T2 was disouraging - I was demoralized as it had started raining again - shoes and socks were totally soaked. What would you do differently?: Been mentally tougher. Run
Comments: The sun came out during the run turning the place into a sauna for the second hour. The concrete trail was hard on the knees - and the mud from the morning rains eliminated running on the grass (lots of standing water.) I was totally trashed when it was over. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching, walking, massage. Jacuzzi session back at hotel. Legs were totally shot after race. Event comments: This is an excellent race - very well run - one of the best events I've ever done. They made everyone feel like a pro. A+++ Last updated: 2009-07-19 12:00 AM
