Pre-race routine:

Up at 515. PB&J or breakfast. Head over to race site and get setup.
Event warmup:

This was the first time I didn't get in the water before a swim. I was in the last wave anyway. Seemed to work OK this time but I think I would have liked to get in first.
Swim
  • 25m 25s
  • 1408 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim I thought but judging from my 100 yard pace I could have done better. It was nice not to feel gassed after the swim though.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 04m 28s
Comments:

Felt slow to me this time. Had extra time getting Garmin HR strap on and getting the Forerunner started on the bike. I forgot to turn it on before the swim start.
What would you do differently?:

Be a little better organized.
Bike
  • 1h 25m 33s
  • 24.9 miles
  • 17.46 mile/hr
Comments:

This went really well. At times it fel too hard but it all evened out in the end. Love the rolling hills and all in all a fantastic course. Noticed an Alpaca (sp?) farm along the way.
What would you do differently?:

Get a tri bike and retire the 17 year old Specialized HardRock I've been riding this season.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Run
  • 1h 02m 55s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 10m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

This was perhaps my best run ever. My pacing and breathing was spot on and I had plenty to get to the finish. I smiled the entire way!
What would you do differently?:

Run more in the off season so I can improve my mile pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Ice bath for feet, find my fantastic cheering section, eat :-)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Trianing and bike. I HAVE to work on my running this off season and look into getting a tri bike so I can improve on the bike too :-)

Event comments:

I was so impressed with this from start to finish. The prganization was great and the volunteers were superb. This race has solidified my decision to do the Providence Ironman next summer.
