Swim
Comments: Felt better than expected considering I'd been in the pool exactly one time since the middle of June. Had a little trouble sighting/tracking on the middle and end parts of the swim, but overall it was a good swim that I was happy with. What would you do differently?: Swim more. Transition 1
Comments: A little run here as the swim chute was around the transition. Otherwise, it was a smooth transition with most of the time spent running. What would you do differently?: Not much. Bike
Comments: Course was hillier than I expected. Should have gotten out of the big ring a couple times, but just powered through. I was happy with the bike as I hadn't been on much ahead of the race. Almost ate it on the dismount though. Now, that would habe been an embarassing failed clip out! What would you do differently?: Ride more. Transition 2
Comments: Fast transition after I almost crashed on the dismount. Took an extra second to have a drink. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: Tough run for me. My left leg just wouldn't loosen up, and the tendonitis in my right knee flared a little for the first mile or some. Finally loosened up a little after mile 1 which was a 8:20 pace and I picked it up from there. I always struggle in the slightest of heat, and this was no exception. Felt cooked by the end of the run. What would you do differently?: Do more BRICS (and biking). The unexpected hills made the legs awfully tight for the run. Post race
Warm down: Sucked down Gatorade. Cheered some firends on. Got in the car to meet the family to hit the beach as soon as possible. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Weight (need to lose another 20 lbs. Event comments: Great race. Very, very nice course with the water views. Will do again. Last updated: 2009-07-20 12:00 AM

Woke up about 5AM to a nice sunrise. Had a Red Bull and a Clif bar at the end of the drive to Falmouth. Got there about 6AM, parked in town, got my stuff together and rode the mile or so to the beach (and called that a warmup). Registered with no issues, made my way into transition, set up my space, and chatted with a friend for a while as we eventually made our way down the rocky beach.
