Run
Transition 1
Comments: No T1, since it started with swim...DUHHH Swim
Comments: Definitely the swim of my life! Never dreamed I could do 1000 meters that fast! What would you do differently?: Might take it a wee bit slower since my run suffered. Transition 2
Comments: Had socks in case I wanted them, but there was another woman right next to me who came out of transition right ahead of me so I didn't want to take the time to put them on. Went without and no problems. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Very happy. Run
Comments: My lungs were ready to burst. I think I did too much on the swim. My legs felt like they were doing nothing and taking an easy run, but I was panting like a dog in 100 deg. weather! Slower 2nd mile helped out a bit, but my legs never really felt like they were working their hardest. What would you do differently?: Maybe be a little slower on the swim so I could breathe easier on the run. Post race
Warm down: 5-minute jog around the parking lot with Birgid (just met her...cooldown runs are a great way to meet new people). What limited your ability to perform faster: Couldn't breathe on the run Event comments: I was very happy overall. NEVER thought I could go that fast in a swim! I'm definitely going to e-mail the race director to make sure the swim was an accurate measurement. If it is, that'll REALLY give me confidence for worlds next month. Did the caffeine and Snickers Marathon Bar thing on the way down to Miami. 45 miles each way and huge thunderstorms when I left my house...not sure it was even worth it to go.
Barely a light drizzle in Miami...glad I went anyway. Did some jogging with a few sprint intervals, then set up transition and swam almost to the last buoy and back to help sighting on the last bit.
