Swim
Comments: The swim was very good, water was warm, well marked course, and waves were spaced well enough to not have any major clumping. My first 100m, I really focused in on settling into a comfortable stroke and rhythm. After I settled down a little, got into a comfortable rhythm and swam until the turn. I did have to do a combo of free and breaststoke, but did swim the entire course so was happy with that. Crowd suppport on the swim start was amazing! What would you do differently?: get stronger at freestyle so I don't have to switch....other than that not much. Transition 1
Comments: There was a long run to transition from the swim exit, so that gave me time to help get my heartrate down. The transition was grassy, so I decided to leave my shoes off of my bike. Good choice! Ran to bike out and got stuck in a bottleneck, almost ran into someone who couldn't get clipped in. What would you do differently?: Work on putting on helmet/glasses as Im getting my wetsuit off Bike
Comments: This was one of my best bikes ever. I really tried to hammer it, Ive always eased off for fear of killing myself. I was passing people for quite a while, which was really nice :) I did try to attack the hills as much as possible, but was hurting a little on them. Coming into T2, spun out a little to loosen up. What would you do differently?: Work on hills more in training. Transition 2
Comments: I almost rear-ended someone in front of me coming into T2, so that slowed me down a little. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: The run was HOT HOT HOT! I was dying for the entire thing. I ended up walking for a while every so often. The heat was just sapping the strength out of me. What would you do differently?: Work on running faster in training to drop my times. Work on more brick sessions too. Post race
Warm down: Walked around got some water and food. It was so hot out that most people were standing in the sprinkler to cool off. Drank a lot of water and Gatorade to make sure I was well hydrated. Waked around, got results, packed up transition and headed on out. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat on the run was brutal. I do need to train to get faster on my run, that would also help a lot. Event comments: This was a very well run and well organized event. The staff and volunteers were all so helpful and encouraging. I will be doing this event next year for sure! This was by far my best race of the year!!! Last updated: 2009-07-20 12:00 AM

Woke-up at 3:30, had my usual of Gatorade, bagel w/ peanut butter, and a powerbar. Double checked the gear and headed out to the race course. Got to the course, got my chip and marked, and set up my transition area.
Went for a little jog to get the blood flowing, donned the wetsuit and took a little swim to get used to the water. Stood around until my wave took off.
