lots of stretching and 1/2 mile warm up. ATe bagel and fruit before race.

Comments:

This was a really fun relay, but tough. We had 12 team members that each ran 3 legs. 188 mile total race. My calves really tightened up after the 1st leg. I had Newton shoes. This was due to shoes stores improperly fitting me into a "stability shoe." The stability shoe combined with the Newton shoe really tightened my calves up.
What would you do differently?:

Warm down:

stretching, lots of recovery drinks.

Course: I ran 3 different 5 + mile legs within 18 hours.First 2 5+ mile runs were in the 6:30-6:45 pace. Last 5+ mile leg, my calves were so sore I could hardly walk. I still ran anyways, and ran a 7:15 pace on that leg.
