Overall Rank = 857/1051
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 33/48
Pre-race routine:

Set up transition, ate a luna bar and banana. Sat and watched for over an hour until my group got to go. That was irritating lol
Event warmup:

None - we couldnt get in the water until our wave was called.
Swim
  • 38m 16s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Have lots of work to do after missing so much swimming time from my shoulder injury. I'm painfully slow.
What would you do differently?:

SWIM MORE! Practice sighting.
Transition 1
  • 04m 31s
Comments:

The women kinda got screwed in transition and got stuck running with the bike both directions from and to the back of the transition stage. The older group you were in, you further back you were. BULLSH*T I tell ya lol I think I had to go close to 1/4 mile to get to where I could finally get on the bike!
What would you do differently?:

Pay attention to where my rack is in comparison to the in/out entrances. I was caught off guard.
Bike
  • 1h 22m 34s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was my best event at 18 mph. I think it's time to upgrade to a speedier model or do some upgrades to this one though.
What would you do differently?:

Drive the course beforehand. I don't like suprises lol
Transition 2
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

Again, long "run" with the bike to the back of the transition area in some deep dirt. Not happy about that lol
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, this one was kinda a blur lol
Run
  • 1h 09m 21s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Very, very hot by the time I got to the run stage with the 1:05 delayed start for my wave. I struggled big time with the heat, should have brought my own water bottle so I could drink more. Had to walk quite a bit (1 min. at a time). Although, with all those walk breaks, I'm quite happy that I still did 11 min miles lol
What would you do differently?:

Bring my own water so I don't have to rely on where a water stop is going to be.
Post race
Warm down:

Got a chair and sat in the shade with some fruit and the water bottle they handed us at the finish line.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HEAT! Just finishing up my first summer in Texas (from Seattle), so need to work on acclimating still. Need more training - specifically, the swimming and running. Been concentrating too much on the bike, but at least I saw results from that lol

Event comments:

Would definitely do it again - but hope for a cooler day lol Will post the age group ranks when they become available.
