Comments: I was not relaxed at all and was rushing through it! I swallowed a big gulp of water and was gasping for air at one point. The only reason I was marked as first was because I was out of transition first and I passed all the guys on the way to transition/in transition. In reality, I was 6th out of the water. What would you do differently?: Relax more and not go out too hard. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I did not clip my race belt on properly and that would bite me in the butt later on...I mounted my bike very nicely and was happy about that. What would you do differently?: Make sure my belt is on properly ![]() Bike
Comments: This is where I lost my race. At the start of the bike I was very confident I knew I was in the lead, and then some guy from my race passed me at a high speed and I tried to keep up with him. I was slowly losing him from my sights and on the second lap I could not see him anymore...I also tried drinking a fair amount of Gatorade and I took a gel halfway through the bike. My race belt flew off at one point and I was not going to go get it because it would have took me forever so I left it (There goes $10). I was passed one guy and he passed me back soon after and we kind of pushed each other more and more and I was happy about that. What would you do differently?: Not eat my gel because I really did not need it. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Well this was very interesting. I dismounted my bike nicely and ran into transition. I then racked my bike and looked down at my stuff and noticed that someone took my shoes!!!!! WHAT!!!! I saw a pair of shoes on my towel and decided to take them, since maybe that person took my shoes instead. I started running away and then noticed that I went to the wrong rack!!! Oh crap...I just took someone else's shoes...Should I turn back? I probably should have, but I decided to keep going. The shoes were very light and was lucky that they fit my feet! I felt extremely bad for the guy from who I took the shoes from, and hoped that if I had a fast run, that I could put them back in time...I just had a picture of this man looking for someone wearing his shoes and knocking me out when he found me...haha...I hope he figured something out... What would you do differently?: Get my stuff and be aware of what I am doing! ![]() Run
Comments: I was trying to catch the guy that was infront of me, but was not even sure who I was looking for. I passed a lot of people and did not get passed once. I had a cramp as well!!! That definitely slowed me down a bit and was disappointed about that since I tried everything to prevent myself from getting a cramp! The shoes I was wearing were extremely light and was running very fast in them, but I was getting some foot pain because I had no socks and I also was not use to these unfamiliar socks. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Drank Gatorade, returned the guys shoes and go my stuff out of transition as fast as possible so the man could not see me. What limited your ability to perform faster: My cramp in the run. Event comments: Great race. My family was there to support me and the location was perfect for a triathlon! I hope to come back next year! Last updated: 2009-07-21 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:00 and ate a bagel. Took one hour to drive to the venue and then I kept drinking until my race. I got the best place in transition, since I was the first one in my race to arrive. I then listened to orientation before my race and headed over to the beach!
Swam 200m very easily.
