  • 587 yards
  • 01m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

felt good. pushed it a little, but in a theme that lasted the whole race, i was immediately all alone in a big gap between the front of the race and everyone else.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

ok. not my best.
What would you do differently?:

not sure.
Bike
  • 29m 59s
  • 11.35 miles
  • 22.71 mile/hr
Comments:

i passed a few and was passed by a few, but for the most part, a big gap opened up and no one was near me. when i got to an out and back section only 1 mile into the bike, the leaders already had 2:00 on me.
i just rode hard and tried to limit my losses.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

good t2. better than t1.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Run
  • 19m 18s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

good run. again, i was literally a minute from anyone else, so there was no pacing off anyone else. i just went as hard as i could and thought about all people in the next wave that were probably time-wise, right on my tail.

What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

cheered on other athletes with my sister-in-law and then ate the best breakfast burrito i've ever had waiting for the results.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

?

Event comments:

first the good:
- easy packet pickup
- great swim and run
- organized race morning w/ plenty of parking, port-a-potties, etc.
- nice awards
- spectator friendly
- best breakfast burrito post race food ever.

issues:
- website was wrong with course distances
- timing was a mess with results taking forever and then still wrong and giving medals to the wrong people
- the most dangerous bike course in regards to traffic i've ever been on. one section was into oncoming traffic as well as 2 unmanned stop lights!

overall, it's a great race i would do again. it actually has the potential and room to grow into a large race. it could be a premier race if they expand a little and fix the bike course/timing issues.
