Pre-race routine:

Set up transition area. Bathroom. Water. Jog. Walk.
Event warmup:

Jogging and walking.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 300 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall the swim wasn't bad. By about half way through it became obvious my swimming endurance was lacking. But considering I had only trained a month for this I think I performed relatively well. It was my first Triathlon so I just wanted to finish. The swim itself wasn't bad, I did find changing from lane to lane annoying though.
What would you do differently?:

More training, better swim endurance.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

I was so tired when I came out of the water and still in that surreal frame of mind, that it don on me to run to the transition area until I was nearly to my bike. I dried off my feet and pull on my socks, shoes and shirt and took off.
What would you do differently?:

Jog to the transition area straight of the pool.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 5.5 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I'd be able to recover a little from the bike ride, but it wore me out. Thankfully I wasn't as out of breath from the bike as I was getting out of the pool.
What would you do differently?:

Probably push a little harder on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Parked my bike, pulled off my helmet and through on my hat and I was off. I don't ride with clips so I already had my running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure I could have gone much quicker since I only needed to take off my helmet and put on a hat.
Run
  • 00m
  • 1.55 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I had to slow to a walk a couple times, but I kept a decent pace. Same with the swim, considering I trained for a month I think I did pretty well.
What would you do differently?:

Better endurance training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to the bike and back to family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'd say training time and just that it was my first triathlon.

Event comments:

Since it was the first year of the race and my first year competing I think the race was well done. I think the start could have been organized a bit better. But I'm sure they'll learn from this first year just as I did for my first time. I do wish they had the split times for each section of the race, but that would be more for my own knowledge.
