Pre-race routine:

Ate at 7pm the night before.
Had a Hammer gel 20min before race start.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 29m 22s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

Negatives: I freaked out a bit in the first few yards; I don't feel like I "pushed it" because I was nervous and wanted to make sure I didn't blow up on the swim

Positives: I didnt blow up; I got my breathing and panic under control within the first 100 yards; I swam strong, but not fast.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little more
Draft more
Sight better
Transition 1
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

There are definitely things I can do here to be faster, but I have not practiced them enough to feel comfortable.
What would you do differently?:

Not much...I would probably try to take off my suit faster - it got stuck on my feet.
Bike
  • 2h 34m 54s
  • 56 miles
  • 21.69 mile/hr
Comments:

The ride was good, but I need to work harder to stay in my target zones. I am also not sure what I would do, but my watch was set to beep when I got outside my target zones and it was beeping A LOT. This was annoying, but helpful in that it kept me focused.

Additionally, I had too much perpetum left at the end. I need to practice 3 hour bottles if I split them on IMKY make sure to make a 6hour bottle...this is something I will need to figure out.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe turn the beeper off on my watch (but probably not)
Practice with a 3 hour bottle
Transition 2
  • 03m 55s
Comments:

Had trouble getting compression socks on.
What would you do differently?:

Prepared my area better
Run
  • 1h 43m 55s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Ankle started to hurt on the hill in mile 2. I adjusted my stride, but it continued to be a problem.

I got hungry around mile 7, but should only have eaten a half a gel...the whole thing was too much
What would you do differently?:

Not be injured before the run.
Not eat right off the bike (eat when I need to...not when I think that I have to).
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to the lake, stood in the lake to my hips for 20 minutes

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My bike speed/endurance
My ankle

Event comments:

I feel really good about this race. If my ankle had cooperated I think I might have been even faster.

I know that I am still slow on the bike, but I think I may look to focus on getting even faster on the run in the off season.

I also need to improve my transition speed.
