Swim
Comments: Swim was 1/4 mile max - organisers sent everyone to one buoy too close I couldn't get into a rhythm as I kept checking for when to turn etc - just wasn't in it mentally. I can really do a lot better in the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Better than Chicago - learned to relax and breathe after swim, and got going better. Time wa still not great but I was more organised and I was much calmer. What would you do differently?: Just gotta speed it up - all practice. Bike
Comments: Didn't find rhythm & gear changes to begin with - deceptive inclines (or bad judgement) and would be fast then very slow. Got into better rhythm and could keep legs going - all about focus and isolating legs. Out of seat a little on some inclines - needed to use power rather than spin up them What would you do differently?: Push it harder - was worried about legs cramping like in chicago. Learn hills Transition 2
Comments: Was ok - someone tried to pass me as I dismounted and got my foot in his chest - serves him right for trying to ride fully into transition What would you do differently?: Just practise to get better Run
Comments: My run times are bad but I RAN the hill and many people who may have beaten me for time didn't - I win the moral victory over them and the course. Part of doing this is determination to do whatever it takes and however I feel to keep going, ao walking is not an option. Still, I'm one of the slowest runners - I don't have it to go much faster - strange. What would you do differently?: Gotta practice this - this is truly my worst discipline, and whilst I need to build my base on the other two also, I need to really improve the run. Post race
Warm down: Stretched a little, drank water, waited for Bobby D at finish What limited your ability to perform faster: running ability and lack of time spent on bike since I bought it. Felt I did better in this one - even if numbers don't really say so. Still very critical of myself and can do much better, but looking forward to training this winter & getting into it next year. Event comments: Swim was a real cock up for them Transition area was filled with people for HIM athletes to negociate Last updated: 2005-08-31 12:00 AM
