Comments: My times show that I obviously went out WAY to fast and crashed around mile 5, so I need to start a bit slower. My heart rate just got way too high and no matter how much I walked I couldn't get it back down to a comfortable pace. What would you do differently?: Pace myself better by starting out slow so that I can set myself up for a negative split and feel better throughout the second half of the run. Post race
Warm down: Walk around and stretch my tight calves. Ate half a banana and drank some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor aerobic base, I need to run at a comfortable heart rate for the entire race and train to be able to do that. Woke up at 6 and ate 3/4 of a bagel, drank some water, and got my stuff all ready to go. Left at 6:45 and arrived around 7. Used the bathroom and chatted with friends until the race start.
Stretched a bit, otherwise not too much of a warmup.
