Comments:

Started up front and got caught up with the fasties. First 1/4 mile too fast, then settled into a nice pace.
Mile 1 was right around the 6:30 that I was shooting for.
Mile 2, I fought the slowdowns that I seem to suffer from just after the 1 mile mark. Held a better pace today, actually thought I was faster than 7:08. Hit the turnaround and the sun came out and with the humidity already high and the ground still wet from the rain this morning it got uncomfortable quickly. I was 6th at the turnaround.
Mile 3, I was warm, but still felt pretty strong. I got passed by 2 guys in the last .75 mile, but one of them I've seen every year here and was surprised to be ahead of him at all.

What would you do differently?:

This is a fun race I do on vacation with my family. My brother, father, uncle, sister, and sister's boyfriend all ran.
Post race
Warm down:

Wet, cold towels and watermelon. Cheered the rest of the team in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training and lack of training in heat and humidity this year.

Event comments:

Love this race. No age group awards allows this race to be free and you still get a t-shirt. Fast flat course. Garmin had it at 3 miles on the nose, I thought it was a 5k.
