Swim
Comments: I got into a perfect place in the swim. I started right after the fast wave and got into a comfortable groove. I was ahead of slower people and behind faster ones. I did have problems sighting off the second buoy though and kept drifting right, which added time. I am not happy about that. What would you do differently?: Sight better. Transition 1
Comments: Decent T1. A little struggle with wetsuit, but not bad. Shoes and helmet went on well. Bike
What would you do differently?: Train more. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2. Run
Comments: I haven't looked at the data, but from checking my Garmin during the race I started out okay at 8:10-8:24 pace, even on the hills. Slowed as I approached the hill on the backside to over 9 min pace, but then kicked it into 7:45 at final stretch once the finish line was in sight. What would you do differently?: Train more. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I did not train enough this year and my back was very sore. Event comments: This was my second time doing this tri. It is a fun tri, but definitely hillier than Lake Mills. I wish I had trained more because I really wanted to place. I guess I will have to wait until next year. Last updated: 2009-07-26 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:15. Had a yogurt and bananna and went to the gas station for coffee and Gatorade. Slow ride to Wauconda - hard to believe there were so many Sunday drivers out at 4:45am. Got there at the same time as Chow and Rob. Set up transition and then headed out for swim warmup.
Swam from finish back to start across Bangs Lake. This was perfect. It got the body ready for the swim.
