Total Time = 2h 29m 12s
Overall Rank = 123/153
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/8
Event warmup:

Swam ~100 yards to cool off and test the current in the river
Swim
  • 19m 37s
  • 1200 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

The current on the last segment was really strong, and I was getting pulled way off course, so I actually swam more than I should have. The course was supposed to be 1 mile, but there's no way that it was. Probably only ~2/3 mile. Time was fast because of the current for a good chunk of the swim. First triathlon that I did the crawl the whole time. Didn't start too fast, and didn't panic when people were swimming over me.
What would you do differently?:

Not swim a mile race the day before :)
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Totally took my time in transition. I really only did the race to practice the swim start. Once that was conquered, I pretty much phoned in the rest of the race.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 2s
  • 22.25 miles
  • 19.34 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a bike fitting on Thursday, and had lots of major changes, including new saddle, raised saddle, moved cleat position, increased stem length, added/adjusted aerobars. So it almost felt like a whole new bike. Took one loop to get used to it. First time ever using aerobars. The second loop was much faster, but still not pleased with performance.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder. Took it pretty easy and was just trying to get used to the changes on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Feet were totally asleep, so spent a few minutes massaging them to get feeling again
Run
  • 55m 36s
  • 6.02 miles
  • 09m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Totally didn't feel like running. Was hot, thirsty and hungry. Pretty much jogged after the first mile.
What would you do differently?:

Fuel better on the bike. Didn't eat or drink enough, and felt it on the run.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Did too much in the days leading up to the race. Didn't fuel or hydrate well enough.

Event comments:

A few people got lost on the course because there were no signs or volunteers on the run (and someone got lost on the bike). Luckily, I saw someone double back in front of me, or else I would have missed a turn too. Overall, I did what I wanted to do (conquer swim, practice on bike). Getting a medal was an awesome bonus!
