![]() Swim
Comments: Swim went OK. There were 4 waves in this race. It was a tighter start than what I experienced in my first triathlon - my first time in the age group wave instead of novice. So I wasn't very used to being so close to everyone. Once I relaxed my breathing got better and I found a rhythm. I did catch some of the men who left before us, but also got passed by novice and relay folks. What would you do differently?: Learn how to draft. Relax at the start. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: T1 went smooth, I was pleased with how it went. What would you do differently?: I want it the same! ![]() Bike
Comments: I think I did well on this ride. I want clipless pedals! What would you do differently?: Clipless pedals. I think I can attack it harder. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: This transition is quick for me because I do not have to change shoes. That will change next year. ![]() Run
Comments: I didn't recover from the bike leg as quickly as I would like. I had the tree trunk legs much longer than I did in training. The legs came around though and I was pleased with the run. What would you do differently?: Practice more bricks! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Ummm...walked around and talked... What limited your ability to perform faster: I got a little freaked in the swim I think, and I also think if I had warmed up some, it would have helped me. Event comments: Good race, no post race activities, which is fine by me. It is a very well organized race and I will do it again next year, and would recommend it to others. Up at 5am, had a whole wheat bagel and almond butter. Gathered gear and headed to start. Set up transition area and grabbed my chip. They asked us to be marked the night before, most of which ended up on the sheets of the hotel room I think. Next year I am marking myself on race day.
Not adequate. I socialized, I meant to warm up, but didn't do much more than walk around and get into the water before the race start. Not smart, I know. Next race, I will definitely do more to warm up.
