Pre-race routine:

Not much, had to wake up at 3:30am! to get a parking spot relatively close to the race.Found one w/out too much trouble.
Event warmup:

No real warm/up. Some walking around, sat around for a while near the swim start.
Swim
  • 19m 21s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim, W/up not allowed, but got out well. I felt I was zig-zaging a bit. Found myself on one side, then on the other. I'm sure I lost time there. Didn't swim exceptionally hard, which was the theme of the day.
What would you do differently?:

Try to swim a straight line! Do some bilateral breathing, try to draft.
Transition 1
  • 04m 48s
Comments:

Good exit out of water, didn't catch any sentiment. Good run to bike, had suit already pulled down to waist. No too much trouble with wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

Wok on wetsuit, have shoes in clips. Still not doing that.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 21s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Usual crappy ride for me. No power... probably comes from no training! I don't feel I really pushed it as hard as I could or should have.
What would you do differently?:

Train, train, train.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Only had one foot out of shoe by dismount came. Started too late and had a downhill right before dismount line. Everything else went pretty smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Take both feet out of shoes while going around circle.
Run
  • 48m 7s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Decent run, didn't really redline this leg either. But still decent effort. Didn't do any brick workouts, but didn't seem to affect my legs.
What would you do differently?:

Push the pace a bit more.
Post race
Warm down:

None.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No bile training. No bricks, not enough swimming.

Event comments:

Great race, a little inconvenient from L.I. Many volunteers and fantastic crowds on the run. Would do this race again with more training under my belt. Totally enjoyed it. Great post-race bash, not much to improve on. If only there was a place to w/up for the swim!
