Swim
Comments: My swim was horrible. I kinda thought it would be. I never once did the freestyle - just breathstroked and backstroked and did whatever it took to finish it. I was just happy to not have to have help and made it through. What would you do differently?: Just more swims. I was really nervous about this and didn't feel prepared. It clearly showed. I do like the water and I just need to swim more and more. Transition 1
Comments: Slow transition but it being my first I didn't really care... kinda out of it and just happy to be alive. What would you do differently?: Just learn and move on. Bike
Comments: I had fun on the bike. I didn't push as hard as I should have. I had a lot of fun looking around. It was a beautiful course. There were a couple weird things with it, but overall I thought it was very nice. I started to get a pretty bad stomache ache and tried to ignore it for the rest of the race. What would you do differently?: Just push it more and more and more training Transition 2
Comments: This was slow too - my husband was there when I got there so we talked - I was surprised to see him in there. First race was not concerned with my times in transition. What would you do differently?: Just focus on getting in and getting out. Run
Comments: I expected to walk much of this run, but I really didn't. I walked up the hill at the beginning and then at a water stop but that was about it. I didn't have much left, but I feel like I should have pushed it harder - I say that now of course... What would you do differently?: Just keep working on my run. It's come a long way (believe it or not) so I'm happy I just have to keep running and push myself harder. I'm probably too nice to myself most of the time. Post race
Warm down: My friend came in right after me and my husband was done already so we just talked and walked around some. Eventually transition opened and we got our stuff out. Got to watch the HIM guy set the record! That was cool. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just training. I probably don't train enough or hard enough. I will work on it. Races motivate me and that's why I do them - I never really care what my time is or anything - it just is a way to keep me in shape and meet cool people. Event comments: I would probably come back, but I want to try Lifetime and Annondale so I'm not sure if it will be next year or not. Run course was pretty tight, but mostly I thought it was fun and a great first triathlon experience. Last updated: 2009-07-27 12:00 AM

My first triathlon! Got up a 3:45 - had a smoothie and some coffee and waited for our friend to arrive. Got the bikes on the car and headed out.
We got to the site about 5:45 and got registered and body marked quickly. Set up our transitions and just kinda walked around - scared...
