Pre-race routine:

i woke up got some coffee and a power bar got all my gear togther and hit the road i was at the lake by about 5:30 i didnt warm up , i was so nervous about the race i could barelly think. nathans was my frist sprint race and there was so much time and prep that goes into these races i didnt no what to expect.
Event warmup:

i get to the bike transistion set all my stuff up and was ready to go .
Swim
  • 41h 33m
  • 820 yards
  • 5h 03m 57s / 100 yards
Comments:

OPEN water scared the crap out of me and we had to swim 50 yards to the start line my heart rate wen through the roof and i thought this was a mistake lol =) but i tried to calm my self and just told my self to get through it/ i could not swim everytime i did i would start to freak out so i just kinda waded my way through the whole course wich really affected my whole race/ i will not get back into open water without proper training and am looking forward to it so i can get better for the next race.
What would you do differently?:

Train in open water and then train some more this cannot happen again .
Transition 1
  • 03m 15s
Comments:

my transition from the water to land was awkward but i managed to stay on my feet and run trough it , but since this was my first one i just took it slow
What would you do differently?:

speed it up
Bike
  • 47h 52m
  • 13.75 miles
  • 0.29 mile/hr
Comments:

the bike couse was fun i did ok ..... but i will tell you this everytime i saw one of the other guys pass me with a 4000.00 bike and a cool helmitt it made me want to go harder and faster i loved it .
What would you do differently?:

i am going to get my bike fitted to ME specifically i didnt do this i just have a road bike with some aero bars on it and it feld awkward thoughout the race . still a good bike but need to get faster with it
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 36h 16m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11h 39m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

i started to run pretty slowly out of the transition area and i kept going for the first mile at a slow jog but then my legs started to give out i wasnt cramping or anything, i just got tired i should of been able to do the run cousre with no problem but my lack of training and not knwing what to expect all affected my ability to perform.
What would you do differently?:

train . train and then train some more
