Pre-race routine:

spent last night with my parents. woke up and rode down to the site and set up the transition area

ran for about 5 minutes w/ pickups and then rode for 5 minutes with pickups

for me this was a good bike. no one passed me. everyone in my age group that finished ahead of me except one was already on the bike when I got there. caught one guy, but someone caught me on the run

probably nothing. training is coming along and this will improve

didn't get my feet out of the shoes in time and had to fiddle with one at the dismount line. other than that,this was fine.

not quite as fast as I had hoped for. Got passed by one person in my age group at the 2 mile mark. other than that, kept trying to focus on form and keep moving. legs were tired and didn't have the kick I was wanting, but we can work on that.
What would you do differently?:

try to not let the form/speed lag in the middle

Warm down:

stretched and rolled the legs. got some food and packed up to get to Tarboro for boys' swim meet

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the usual. still got a lot of training to do to be competitive with this group of athletes. very strong group in Greenville to catch.

Event comments:

great race. weather was as cooperative as you can expect for August. If it had been sunny, it would have been really bad. Great food after the race.
