Swim
Comments: I decided to swim in my Jammer instead of my Tri-Suit. Could be mental but it felt so much better not having the bit of constriction from the tri-suit...and yes, most had wet suits on but, it was the right thing for me. I felt the best I ever felt (and I had never done more than 1/4 mile in a race). Time was bad but...this was a big step for me and I was able to get some rhythm and not be completely wasted at the end. What would you do differently?: Find a different tri suit? Keep working on that swim stroke. Transition 1
Comments: Due to the high humidity I wanted to be sure my feet were dry and even then, had a hard time getting my sox on.. I pulled on Bike shorts and struggled with my bike shirt (wouldn't have been doing that if I'd worn the Tri Suit). I did have to walk to my bike from swimming too. What would you do differently?: Find a tri suit that feels less constricting when wet. Bike
Comments: We had done the bike course the week prior so knew exactly what we were in for... Due in large part to those two steep mile climbs, this course is not for the faint of heart. What would you do differently?: Chugged 8 oz. of Perpeteum during first few minutes...stomach didn't like that for a few miles... Need to drink slower. Transition 2
Comments: I don't like those racks... struggled to get my road bike to stay up and fit into those holes. What would you do differently?: I'm not exactly sure why my T2 was so slow... long way from end of bike to the rack, rack issues. Otherwise, it was typical and I usually take under a minute. Run
Comments: I have Plantar Fasciitis so... haven't been run training...running on memory which doing a 10K was not so much fun but happy to have managed the sub 8:00 pace under the circumstances. The temps were starting to climb too. Had a couple of blisters UNDER calluses that felt pretty nasty the last half. What would you do differently?: Keep trying to heal the PF and get running again! Post race
Warm down: I actually had to pee... but still drank lots more water and tried to stretch. After about 45 minutes, I realized I couldn't lift my arms over my head...I guess the swim was tough! What limited your ability to perform faster: First time at this 'olympic' distance so I'm pretty happy overall. No run training just isn't good. Event comments: Pre-race pasta meal was a bust - food gone at 6PM and waited 40 minutes for bad pizza to arrive. No hammer gel's were left on the run - presumably all given to Sprint Racers and those ahead of me. I know, picky but...those two things were big pushes by the race director. Otherwise, plenty of volunteers on the course and all were friendly. Seemed like the Olympic was second fiddle to the Sprint which seems odd. Last updated: 2009-07-30 12:00 AM

Ate PB on Toast...drank a full bottle of water. Tried to get to the site by 7AM but the parking situation was much worse than expected. Note: Get there by 6AM if you want to park at all close.
Due to our getting there late and the long walk from parking...hustled just to get the transition area set, and then swam for about 7-8 minutes. No time for testing my bike or a quick jog...
